Biz Town

Jacob has been awaiting this day since the 1st Day of School: Junior Achievement Biz Town! All 5th Graders learn from day 1 about how to run a real business, apply for a job, balance and maintain their checking and savings accounts and what it's like to be an "adult" for a day.

I was so excited to help out with this field trip, which was an all day event, and so well worth it. Jacob was the CFO for Simmon's Radio, and did a great job. The CEO's and CFO's seriously had a lot of work to do- they had real money to deal with, deposits from all businesses, pay their bills to the bank, keep track of all the money and make sure we paid off the loans. I was so impressed with how well run this amazing experience at Discovery Gateway is to help these kids get a better idea of what life is like as an adult! They even had a town mayor who had to give a speech, real voting booths, and restaurant to run. At the end of the day, they asked the kids what they had learned and one replied, "that it is really hard to have a job and be an adult and take care of money!" Yep! amen!

Blurry, I know, but you get the drift...it was a neat day! Way to go, Mr. CFO! xoxo
